Teeth and kids. Two of my most favorite things. Two things my job embraces the fact that I love.

I've shown you where I work before. Its a fun place. Disneyland dentist style, if you will. So today we went a step further in Disneyland. As of today.. once a month we are going to have what we call "Deband Day" in ortholand. That is when all of our patients that are getting their braces off will be scheduled to come on the same day and get their braces off.. and of course, celebrate!

To pay off all the hard work and great cooperation these kids give us, we figured they deserve a huge party! So Dr. Jason rented a tux. The four girls wore prom get up. We had the balloons all blown up. The goodies that have all been ignored during time of braces were all on display, and then devoured. Pictures were taken. And sparkly white teeth and lots of excitement was revealed!!!

Just a little update..

Well.. Hello!!

So this weekend. What a blessed and wonderful weekend catching up with great friends in my life. My weekend started off Thursday with dinner with Lauren. Whom of which, asked me over our favorite meal, to be apart of her wedding in May. I'm very thankful to have such a wonderful friend in my life that truly is a blessing. Friday I kept the boys as usual.. Spider man himself..

Followed by dinner and drinks with a bunch of girls from college.. the only picture taken of the night (I have got to get better about taking pictures of other things other then the kids I play with--Someone hold me accountable!)

Then there was Saturday.. which consisted of running around Fayetteville and enjoying NWA with Annie and Katelyn. Which in addition, was when my purchase of my beloved poncho that I have been looking for high and low for, was made. That evening was topped off with sushi with Rachel.

Sunday.. oh Sunday.. lazy PJ reading Sunday. I heart thee. I have started a new book series. The Hungry Games. Highly recommended by a close friend and her husband in Little Rock. I understand why. There are 3 books in the series, about 200ish pages each. Delightful is what they are!! If you need a good read.. there ya go!

And today..

it was a snow day today. Sort of. I got a text at 6AM saying "No work!!"-- followed by a text at 8:30 that says "See ya at 10".. it was nice to have a few extra hours. Working at a kids clinic we generally flow with the school schedules. Well.. this time, we kind of did : ) But I did complete my day with a lazy Bachelor watch party with Lauren and some girls.. Oh Drama... Drama, drama that show is!!

Lastly, I leave you with this simple little message.

Listen to your heart. Listen to the Holy Spirit and what is being spoken to you. My lesson right now that I am learning is so crystal clear. So obvious of what I need to focus on.. the areas where I need to improve.. the weaknesses that need to be strengthened. Not to mention, how this is all being revealed. Is simply amazing! I encourage you to just focus. Its not hard when you are just simply still. Just having faith.

Jesus tells us in Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:3

"Blessed are those who have realized their own utter helplessness, and have put their whole trust in God."

This book has totally changed my way of looking at life. At love. At grace. At discipleship.

If you need a good book to cuddle up with this winter, or over the break, I highly recommend it. It takes a few chapters to get into, and then it takes off and you can't put it down.

Its so good I might read it again, and that is saying something!

Our office has officially/smoothly moved locations. The new office is almost doubled in size from the old one and is pretty much like DisneyWorld, but in the dentistry form..

These are the words I would say

I could say so much about this song. I could take this song and put it in different applications of my life and in others. I think the perspective I love the most that I get out of it is TO BE STRONG. God's plan is being revealed each day. No matter if it feels like it is or not. No matter how long, or how often we pray. He listens every time. This song reminds us to not live in fear. To forgive and forget. To move on. To find the peace, comfort and strength in the Father. How uplifting is that? And how truthful?

We all have our stories and hardships that we have been through. We have all seen how the prayers are always answered rather in our own life, or in someone else's. If your stories are similar to mine, then I think you would agree that patience is the key. And yes it is hard. So hard to wait and to listen. But how much is it worth when we see the plan unfold? When we see the pieces begin to fit together and we have the "I get it" moment. It's an indescribable feeling when you overcome something so difficult (small too) and you can finally sit back and praise Jesus that it happened. Something that was once considered so terrible (or stressful), suddenly becomes the biggest blessing. How lucky we are to have such a Father that protects us and continues to love us NO MATTER WHAT. He's got His hand on us. Don't give up hope.

Sorry it's been a month since you've heard from me! Life is SO fun and SO wonderful right now. I'll blog about it soon : )

"I" in the middle

I'll admit, yesterday was one of those Sundays when I sat in church thinking, "What is he talking about.." "I am not really following what he is saying.. and where are we headed with this..." Maybe I am the only one that does this, it doesn't happen often, but yesterday was one of those days. After really trying to pay attention to the sermon I walked away at the very end with a crystal clear message. One of the very last things the preacher said was this..

"We have to remember that when dealing with 'sin'.. it can't be spelled without the "I" in the middle."

How simple is that? Sin is always performed out of the desires of your own individual mind. Total self interest. No matter how wrong. It comes down to a solo decision. The "I" is in the middle, the one in control of sinful actions.

God is so faithful.

Kids are a huge part of my life and they hold a very deep and special place in my heart. Nothing makes me happier then when an innocent little one says something that makes me smile, or literally laugh out loud. And yes, of course, I love the embarrassing moments when they have no idea someone is listening to them, or the moments I like to call "innocent moments." With my job I am very fortunate to work with kids all day long. I am thankful to have to have a lot of "down time" while waiting on the doctor, so conversation is usually very interesting.. to say the least!

Here are some stories from here lately:

{10 year old boy}

Boy: Today is my Dad's birthday... Hey Dad, how old are you again?

Dad: 42

Boy: And how old is mom again?

Dad: 30

--Silence

Boy: Wait!! So you are telling me mom is like.... um... 12 years younger than you..

--Dad smirked.

Boy: Isn't that like how old Jack is? (his older brother) Thats like his whole life in years.. the difference between you and mom.

I wanted to laugh out loud so hard.. Thank you school for teaching children to do math! I loved it!

{ 6 year old boy today with a lisp and freckles (SO funny!) }

As I am looking into his mouth I say, "Oh Jack, you have lost 2 teeth and I see some permanent teeth coming in already!"

Boy: Yep! I got to brush those extra good and have respect for them because we will be together for forever!

I lost it. I told the dentist when he came by and we both laughed so hard! Great way to put it!

He also told me after treatment was over..

"Hey.. I've been thinkin.. Was that doctor dude using a jig-saw on my tooth?.. because that is what it sure sounded like to me!.. but ya know what?.. I don't even care, he could if he wanted to.. I didn't feel a thing! AND!! As long as I can lay here and watch this movie, you guys can do whatever you need to next time.. but not today, because I gotta get out of here. Mom promised me an ice cream cone"

Ha!! What a mess! He talked my ear off!

He told me all about his bike wreck and getting gas in his eye.. and all his emergency room visits. Mom said he was in the ER SIX times before he turned 5! I believe it!

{ 4 year old little girl}

ME: Katie how did your teeth heal up that we had to pull last time you came to see us? Did the tooth fairy visit you?

GIRL: Their fine... they don't hurt anymore. But ya know what? That tooth fairy must be a boy or something, it has no sense of style!

As I laugh, "Do what? No style!?"

GIRL: Well, the tooth fairy gave me these capri pants that were so ugly.-- I don't think I'll leave my teeth out next time for the tooth fairy.

MOM: Remember honey, I told you the tooth fairy probably gave all their money to other kids, and they wanted to leave you something and that is all they had!

10. My youngest sister graduated from high school. (makes me so sad, totally weird)

9. I saw Sex and the City 2 with a group of close friends at midnight on the day it came out. (quickly realized I'm too old to do that, or maybe I was just really disappointed)

8. I could put a straw in a whole bottle of Simply Raspberry lemonade. And drink it all in one sitting. (summer obsession. You must try.)

7. I am back on my running kick. (with new shoes too!)

6. I jumped on the Words with Friends train. (yes, I get the obsession)

5. I am still watching all the kids on a regular basis. (That will never change)

4. The week before Memorial weekend, and also Memorial weekend, was the best week and weekend I have had in I can't even tell you how long. (You may smile from ear to ear)

3. This past weekend I went to Dallas to see my cousin. Had an awesome time. (great food and shopping)

2. Summer hours started today at work. 6:45AM-3 everyday until August. Yes, even Fridays. (hello coffee)

NUMBER ONE:

God listens. He answers prayers. He is faithful and true. He changes hearts. He loves us. His plan is most perfect. I promise promise promise He is listening. Do not give up. Pray. Hold your head high. He is in control. Trust that. Smile.

See why I haven't been around for the past two months? There isn't much to blog about. Boring, I know. I still love being entertained with all of your posts though!

#1 is very true and holds a whole whole lot of meaning and change going on in my life. I do not mean it vague like the others. Its been my focus. My eye open. My love and my motivation.

If you know me at all, you know one thing.

I HATE frogs.

I hate everything about them. They hop. They make annoying sounds. They are slimy. They are ugly. They hide. They come out of no where. Their unpredictable. Their pointless. They creep me out. Make me scream. Run far far away. They make me walk outside in the summer with a light (usually my phone) to the ground so I can see if one is in my way.

Sick. Sick. Sick.

All I have to say is why in the WORLD would my most favorite store in the entire world carry this? Why would they think this is cute? Why would someone buy this?

Sorry Anthro, but you just totally creeped me out. Completely. I think this marks the very first time we have ever disagreed on an article of clothing.

I'm 10 short days away from it being a month since you last heard from me. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry that really all I have to report to you is a bunch of rambles. Life lately has consisted of very very few things, but a lot, a lot of it on repeat.

Work. I wake up at 6:15, take a shower, throw on scrubs, grab my water bottle, drive to work, work, lunch break, back to work, home, dinner, shower, and bed. Repeat. Monday through Thursday. That is my life. I honestly love doing what I am doing. Working with kids and working with their teeth. Its the best of both my worlds. Finding life outside of work has been alittle rough just because I feel like a 82 year old lady when I get home and I really don't want to do anything but crawl in my big fluffy bed. Boring, I know. But its getting better. The sleep schedule is adjusting. My after work activities consist of more kids (duh), my bestest of friend, sometimes a Target trip, a boy.. yes, a boy, and anything else that I might need to do, get, or see.

Life is wonderful and I have nothing to be negative about. I do think about my blog through out some days in wonder of what I could share with you guys.. as you can tell.. you aren't missing out on much. And to be really honest, there are some days that my computer doesn't get turned on. Whoever would have thought I would say such a thing?

Other exciting things to share....

I am leaving for Canada in 4 days..

Easter time.. AKA Cadbury egg season, Mini Eggs.. the ones like M&Ms.. not those big things.. (best time of the year!!!)

I am thankful for this extra hour we started today, so it wont get so dark so fast!

Two of my most favorite people from Little Rock came up last weekend.

I am ready for summer.

Kirsten and I have been walking A LOT and I love that special little time together.

I saw my cousin tonight for the first time since Christmas (SO SAD!)

God continues to be too good to me.

I needed this today. Really, these past few weeks. With my new job, adjusting to new schedules, and just everyday life, it is comforting to turn to a verse like this.

The Lord is our comfort. He is our place of rest and protection. When life seems crazy, or even in repetitive motion, we turn to Him. He is the author of our life, the protector of our heart, the lover of our soul, and soother of our minds.

What an exciting weekend!!

Friday night was nothing short of wonderful!!! I can promise you that.

Saturday I watched the olympics and had delightful dinner with Kirsten. It has become quite the weekend tradition to eat mexican food while sharing latest developments and laughs. I love my dearest friend.

Today I watched the kids. We watched UP and went to get ice cream at Maggie Moos. All in the dreary/lazy rainy weather.

Life is wonderful.. and I can't wait to share more about it! Keep your fingers crossed.

Over the past few weeks I have been watching who comes to my blog. It simply makes my day when I see all the people that come and go. I love it!! But, I do feel kind of.. um.. out of if?? five totally random facts

1. This is the new Heinz ketchup package if you haven't seen it. How cool is that? You can squeeze it out OR dip from it. It's the simple things like this.. love it.

2. We are getting more snow in NWA as I type, and have been all day long. Suprise suprise, I know. I'm about ready to clicked into my skis. This is getting rediculous.

(Not sure who this kid is, but they made me laugh)

3. I would do almost anything to be in Destin, FL right now. I am in desperate need of my dresses, swimsuits, and flipflops.

4. Today I was in a snow strom hurry to get out of the house and off to work. (Remember the driveway issues I have.. I was stressed.) In such a hurry that I walked out of the house and jumped in my car and didn't notice until it was too late that I was going to work with my neon pink, cuticle covered, smeared finger nails, that Libby did for me Sunday afternoon. Remember the pedicure this summer? She's 4. It made for a good morning laugh.

Today I am thankful that my job requires that I wear latex gloves.

the mayonnaise jar

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

'It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

My youngest sister, Alex, is on Fayetteville High School's Colors Day court!!!!!!! They announced this today at the pep rally and I could not be more proud of my little AlPal!!

Colors Day is like the basketball homecoming for those of you that don't know. I will follow up with part 2 after next Friday (week from today) basketball game when she walks the court looking beautiful!

I love you Peter, and SO proud of you!!!!!!!

So my driveway is about a football field and a half long.. lined with pine trees, and covered in gravel. In result, it is the last driveway in this town to ever melt. Last night I had a bit of trouble getting out of the driveway to go to Lauren's Bachelor watching party, I made it finally, but I was late thanks to the driveway. Today was a different story.

At about 2:15ish I got into my car to go pick up kids from school. I have to pick them up at 2:50. But I had to go get the after school snacks and gas in my car. So 2:15ish it was! The thought of the driveway's state wasn't a concern because it was later in the day, I thought SURELY some of it would have melted compared to last nights incident.

Melted? Oh yeah, into a totally muddy, puddled, slushy, nastiness, snow mess.

In my car I went. I would pick up just enough speed and HELLO.. a dog (we have 2 big dogs- a black lab and an English Mastiff) would jump out in front of me, causing me to have to stop. Stopping in snow makes you literally have to stop and back up, if you didn't know. So I would reverse. Starting all over again. Then, I would get to a point where my back tires would just spin, so I stopped. Backed up, got out, and got a hand full of hay (it was the first thing I thought of) to put in the slick spot. (Yes, we have hay, we have big animals that eat it.) So then I would try again. Going... going... pasted the spot with hay.. slide a little.. going.. HELLO dumb dog. Back up. Start again. Another slick spot. More hay. Start again. Slide. Back up. Go. Dog. Stop. Back up. Slide. Tears. Dogs barking. Frustration increasing. Go. Tires spinning. Mud and snow tossing. Tears.

I think you get the picture. Times about 28 times.

To make a long story short, throughout this process.. I used up all the hay. Used a bucket of ashes, because that really does, true story, help in the snow and getting unstuck. At one point I picked up a stick in attempt to get the snow away from something, and instead the lab thought I was playing fetch with him and took it out of my hand and ran away with it. Nearly slid into a tree (Thank you Lord for stopping that). I was totally covered in hay, ashes, and mud-slush from head to toe. Screamed at the top of my lungs and cried tears of frustration. And I am furthest from an emotional person. I had had it!

At 3:06 I got out of my driveway by a huge miracle. Might I add, I drive a 4Runner. Its not like I was in a little car fighting this battle. But the thing with the Runner is this, it has some sliding protector thing, that locks up your tires or something.. I really don't even know.. I could be totally off. BUT I do know that it makes this beeping noise, that probably had a lot to do with the frustration level. I also know that when it gets to this state of operation that it doesn't move and there is nothing you can do about it. Frustrating.

I hope you are laughing. I am now. Several hours later. I don't think I have ever been so frustrated in my whole life. For almost a whole hour. I'll post pictures tomorrow just to paint the picture better for you.

In other words, my car is parked at the church that is to the right of our house. The driveway wasn't an option tonight.

Let me just say this.. I love reading all your blogs, I really do. BUT it is a lot of clicking from my blog to yours, back to my blog to someone else, back to mine.. so on and so forth, until I have caught up with all your latest activities. Not to mention, sometimes I notice on Twitter or Facebook that you guys tell me you updated your blog, so I go to mine and it tells me it is still on your previous post. Therefore, it results in me not being the faithful, up to date blog follower of yours that I want to be. In addition, this delay hold up really messes with my OCDness that I fight with constantly throughout the day.

Until yesterday. Goodness gracious!! Maybe I have been living under a rock or something, but had no idea Google Reader existed. -- OK, that is a white lie.. I did.. I just didn't know how to work it. After a very helpful blog post by Mrs. Jones.. my google reader was up and running, and the obsession level is out of control. I love it. It is the most organized way to stay caught up with all the blogs I follow. Its like a blog inbox.. It reminds me very much of GMail and is literally, fabulous. I'm addicted.

If you read as many blogs a day as I do.. please, save your pointer finger and/or your mouse and do some looking into Google Reader. You can thank me later!

beginning to get restless

Above was my entertainment for the day. Lazy? I would think so too if my car didn't have about a foot of snow on it and was frozen shut. Awesome, I know. So needless to say the most productive part of my day was taking a shower and finding a clean pair of new sweatpants to put on.

Last night was an exciting night.. about 6:30 my parents decided to get us all out of the house and go grab a pizza. I felt like this was such a treat, having been stuck inside all day. And it was a special outing, it isn't often we all get to go out to dinner together with everyone's different schedules, so it was lovely. The roads were covered in ice and snow and my Dad's huge truck slid quite a bit, but it was so nice to have a change of scenery.

This snow storm has been very relaxing. It is nice to not hear trees snapping and falling every five minutes. I'm very thankful the firemen didn't have to come rescue our home like last year. Very fortunate to have the power on the whole time. And it is very peaceful feeling to look out the windows to tons and tons of snow. Even the ugliest things are always so pretty covered in snow; at least I think so!

I do believe the chance for more snow is unlikely, and that is pretty much fine with me. I'm beginning to get pretty restless around here.

Well.. it's started. The roads are slick. The public schools and the University have already called off class for tomorrow. Freezing rain and snow are taking over the atmosphere outside.

Here we go. Ready or not, these next few days might be very interesting. So here is your heads up if you don't hear from me; the ice and snow won and the chances of lost power are high at fault.

Don't worry. I'm still here. I've been in quite the blogging rut lately. Here is what has been going on..

1. I subbed Monday morning in a 2nd grade classroom. Oh. My. Gosh. Having done my internship and having my whole college degree wrapped around secondary aged kids, I have quickly forgotten how oh so cute little kids are. Bless their hearts. But man do they make you tired! There was one little boy I could have taken home with me in about.. oh.. 2 seconds!! He was totally precious and made me laugh all day long. He was a spitting image of Buckwheat's best friend (I can't think of his name and it is driving me crazy).. Anyway.. this little man was so cute. Every time he talked he had a big smile on his face and would tilt his head just like the little guy on Little Rascals. During Science we were talking about matter and examples of it. He raised his head with a big grin on his face and says in a slurring voice, "Excuse me Ms. Posey, let me get this right.. so are you telling me that the United States of America is made up of matter? And what about France?.. and China?".. Hilarious. I didn't even bring up countries.. I was talking about apple juice and their desks and steam off of boiling water... Not real sure where he connected the US and France and China.. but whatever, we went with it.

Buckwheat is on the left.. and the little boy in 2nd grade looks just like the one on the right.

2. Monday night at 9:45.. I thought that was setting the record with my bed time, until last night hit.. UM.. this is kind of embarrassing.. my computer and I got in bed with Cinderella at 7:30.. and all I remember seeing is up to the part of Cinderella feeding the little animals outside. For those of you that aren't Disney fans.. that is about 15 mins into the movie. Needless to say I woke up this morning with the DVD menu playing. Oh lovely!!

3. I went to the Doc this AM to find out that I am sick. Allergy sick. For those that know me, this shouldn't surprise you. A good ol shot in the hip and a round of antibiotics and I'll be good to go. According to Dr. A "If you don't have allergies right now.. then you are just weird!" I guess their just terrible right now. He also informed me that there is a 24 hr stomach bug going around.. so if you have been feeling a little under the weather, hopefully I just solved your issue. (I am far from a DR though, so you might want to see a real one)

4. I have not had a carbonated drink in about 2 weeks. Sonic Happy hour is being greatly missed, but I feel so much better.

5. Lets talk about this ice storm that is suppose to hit this weekend. Seriously? The words "Ice Storm" just make my stomach roll over and really makes me want to throw up. Makes me want to pop an anxiety pill (and I don't even have anxiety issues). For those of you reading this from NWA (for those of you not from NWA, don't be jealous).. I know not having power was terrible.. I know trees falling over was terrible. I know your kids being out of school for over a week was terrible.. I know the roads were.. well, terrible. But what about your house catching on fire? Because thats what happened at the Posey household. Attic fire. Flames. Smoke. Alarms going off at 3:30 AM while sound asleep. Stuff totally ruined. Rent house for 7 months. Total reconstruction of our house. Seriously? Thank you electric company for turning our power back on, but not so much for giving us too much power and bring us to flames. To say the least, it literally has almost been a whole year since the last ice storm. Must we need another one at exactly the year mark later?.. whatever.. I don't understand. Needless to say, bring on the weather. Thats fine and all, but please don't take my house away that is just now becoming back to "normal" finally. This was our backyard.. I'll do fire pics on the 29th..

So the Bachelor... I don't even know where to begin.

Drama.

Lots of uncalled for tears.

And I get quickly embarrassed for almost all of them.

Thats really all I have to say about that.

The best part of the show is the fact that this fabulous friend of mine, Lauren, can throw one heck of a Bachelor watching party.

She has thought of everything! And it is all so wonderful and so fun.

A big group of girls have met now twice to watch this season's drama filled episodes at her house. We have so much fun talking about all the drama, laughing at the craziness, and everything that the show entitles. Its quickly becoming a highly of my week.

A very good friend I have grown up with since elementary school got engaged just before Christmas, Lindley. Her bridesmaids got together and threw her and her husband to be, Brett, an engagement party to celebrate the fabulous news. We have all been so lucky to have grown up together, and to still keep in touch after all these years. It was so fun to see everyone and talk about all the past times. It is a very exciting time for Lindley and Bret and I'm so thankful that I can be apart of special events like this one.

So.. with this snow and all.. I have caught up on my movie collection that I feel has been highly neglected. I'm one of those people that buys movies instead of rents them. Yeah, I know, thats not a very money smart decision, but whatever!

Todays selection was "He's just not that into you!" I've kind of been hesitant to watch this one, wasn't really sure how I would react to it. But I gave into it today. Fell in love.

I feel as if my life has been documented in several different ways. I related to every single situation at some point in my life. I literally laughed through the entire movie. Never have I related so well with a movie.

But yeah, I'm glad my life has been recorded, titled "He's just not that into you," and sold on the shelves. Glad I could help! If you haven't seen it, go grab it in this snowy day. I think rather you are male or female, anyone can relate to this one. Its a good one!!

Its funny how God works. How He speaks to us. What he teaches us, and how. Sometimes in my daily walk with Him I try too hard to figure out my assignment for the day. Try to hard to listen to my direction. When really, I just need to be still. Just listen. I find that normally when I receive a "clear" teaching is when I usually have my mind on a different track then the one I was originally focused on. Its not that I think He doesn't listen, nor that I am suppose to know just everything He has planned. That is the wonderful thing about having faith in Him. He surprises us constantly. With the most perfect plan. At the most perfect time. He does listen. Constantly.

Lately my heart has been heavy. It seems that there is so much going on in my little world with those around me. My thoughts seem so caught up about those close to me, those I don't even know, and those so far away. My heart is heavy to help. Heavy to pray for each and every soul on my list. I find myself questioning "Why," "Why now," Why to them?" I can't help it. I can't help but tear up. I can't help but get frustrated with the "whys." Hard times like these make moments of blessings and thanksgiving seem foggy. How selfish is that? I'll admit it. That is just selfish of me.

I am quickly reminded how truly blessed I am. I think about how selfish I have been this past year. How selfish my thoughts and writings have come across. I may have had a total broken heart, but I'm alive. I lost a lot in a house fire, but I have a family that survived. I questioned everything. Prayed constantly. My timing and God's timing were far from the same path. I contemplate my feelings from this past year and all that has happened, and I never thought a year later I would truly thank my perfect Lord for all he has done. He has blessed me with a wonderful understanding of His love, of the true meaning of love in general, the value of a strong family, and poured blessings upon me through wonderful people and friends. He has taught me the total power of prayer, and the strength behind it. The undying love that he has for me. He has never once left me, nor forsaken me, just as he has promised. He is a God of Grace and Mercy. A God of patients and justice. I can't even begin to explain the countless lessons and the strength He has provided my heart. He has PROMISED to make my path, to plan MY life, and for me to NOT worry, to only trust. He yanked precious things from my life to straighten me out, to draw me nearer and closer to Him. I see that. I see how all the bricks fit so closely together. I am truly thankful.

I've climbed mountains this year. I have witnessed God's mighty power work over my heart. I truly believe he can do anything. No prayer is ever too big, or too long. He hears them all. But the key we fight is the response. It might not always meet ours, in fact it usually doesn't. Sometimes our desires and His are really quite different. But isn't it funny how everything works out perfectly? Isn't it funny how when we look back and we are able to see how all the pieces fit perfectly together, how that one thing makes perfect sense to lead to the next? He's a perfect God. With a perfect plan for each of us. He loves us.

Tonight I remind myself of His love. I've spent the day with a confused heart. I feel like anymore I am constantly adding something to my prayer list. I pray constantly for those I know in the hospital. For Mary Drake, a 16 year old beautiful girl, that was in a horrible car wreck, and by God's grace alone, with no medical reasoning at all, she is alive and currently recovering in Little Rock. I pray for a very special person's grandmother that is very ill in the hospital and is just waiting for Jesus to take her home. I pray for God to provide him strength, for clear understanding and comfort to him and his family. I am thankful for the doctor's knowledge and their hands that are constantly trying to physically heal her. I constantly think and pray for the children in orphanages around the world. For the precious faces that are without families, those on the streets without food and shelter. Lately my heart has been heavy around the holiday for those families that celebrated without loved ones near. Holidays are so special and so traditional, therefore not having those special people around makes it so much harder. My heart goes to those people; my heart is weak for them. I pray for the men and women fighting for my life around the world right now. That God will put each under his wing, and if it is in His will, and His will alone, they will return safely to their families. I pray for my best friend, that God will pour out crystal clear direction and amazing strength. I praise Him for her talent and faithful friendship. I pray for the little kids I keep, that God will work wonders in their little hearts and lives. I am truly thankful for how he uses each little child to touch my life. The list goes on and on... With knowing the ability behind the power of prayer now makes my heart so heavy to not forget a situation. Not to forget others.

In the midst of dwelling on this today, I was at the point of finally being distracted by something else, by His word. In Bible Study, He taught me. Crystal clear. Our memory verse for this week was Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God." Just what I needed to hear. Be anxious in NOTHING but in EVERYTHING by prayer.

I just smiled. Thank you Jesus. Thank you for speaking to me. Thank you for all your blessings, for all your teachings. Thank you for your love that endures forever.

I am truly thankful. So thankful that He listens to little old me.

Book worm

Its pretty exciting that snow is on the ground. Not so exciting that the temperatures outside make me want to scream! And makes me kind of wonder if these temperatures are really going to get as low and terribly freezing as they say over the next few days.. High 12, low -5 on Thursday.. HA.. excuse me??

So in the midst of preparing for this blizzard (Lord, please don't let us have another ice storm, we were just about to celebrate it being a year!) I did some wondering around the book store yesterday. This past year I can honestly say I have never done so much reading in my entire life! Its like I couldn't get enough of it! Call it old age, call it growing up, call it being bored.. whatever you want to call it, I love it! For instance, I sat down Sunday (as it was starting to snow) and thought I would read a few chapters of Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.. 200 pages and a book completion later! Needless to say, making a run for a few more good books was a must.

My Aunt reads a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean like several books a month. She HIGHLY recommended "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. She said it is the best book she has read in a few years. Sign me up!! I also grabbed the "The Lucky One," which is the only Nicholas Sparks book I haven't read. Highly recommend that man. Love him!

So yeah, I think I am good to go. Bring on the snow! I'll let you know how these two selections turn out.

It titled "Handbook for 2010," and included about ten things to go by on the topics of Health, Personality, Society, and Life. Some of the suggestions were kind of obvious, but some I really enjoyed and thought I would share with you.

{Health}

Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..

Read more books than you did in 2009.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day

{Personality}

Don't over do. Keep your limits.

Dream more while you are awake

Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...

{Society}

Each day give something good to others.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

{Life}

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

God heals everything.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change..

TA DA!!!!! It's TWENTY TEN!

I am SO excited about this year! I feel wonderful blessings and awesome new adventures; and I can't wait! I began this year out with wonderful high school friends last night. And finished it off with reminiscing about the night with Kirsten over our typical Mexican food meal today.

Life doesn't get much better than where it is right now.

It's been awhile since you last heard from me. I decided explaining all these events would be easier with a few props.

Our first Kappa Alumni Christmas party!

Since our freshman year of college a group of guys I went to high school with have thrown an ugly Christmas sweater party. Seems every year it gets bigger and bigger. Its always a great time to catch up with those that we graduated with. Here are a few pictures from it.

And the big event..

On December 22 my family and my Mom's side of the family packed it up and went to Telluride, Colorado for Christmas. I think I already told you this. I am pretty big on traditions when it comes to the holiday season. This year was a little easier than I thought it would be. Although, I have to say there were a lot of "firsts" that I never thought would happen on Christmas day! Ha, prepare yourself... And might I mention, the condo we all stayed in was rather "Calico Country," if you will.. which makes it even more of a laugh.

A few first were..

Going to a Catholic Mass on Christmas Eve (NOTHING at ALL wrong with this, it was just a first)

Crying through the entire Christmas service. Typically just during Silent Night. Not this year!

Not being at my church on Christmas Eve for the first time in my life.

Not having one present to open.

Not waking up in Fayetteville Christmas morning.

Waking up with all my cousins on Christmas morning under the same roof.

Not having a Christmas tree. Rather, a floor lamp that my Mom decorated. Ha! It worked.

I skied on Christmas Eve and day. Never have done that on Christmas.

Whenever I talk about Telluride to someone I always describe it as "Dickson St surrounded by mountains." Literally. Telluride is a very very small ski town in the very southwest corner of Colorado. There is one main street. One way in town and one way out. A very local and "hippie" town. So laid back. I love it.

The town is so laid back that there are several famous people that either do, or have, owned houses there. For instance, here is Oprah's..

One day on the slopes Clare and I met a little friend. Pete. Pete the Porcupine.

He was pretty cute. Ski Patrol was standing around him. Apparently their spikes aren't the problem, but rather their bites. And no, that is not neither Clare or I next to him, that is some lady.

My love for little kids grew even more when I saw this little tike on the slopes. He came up MAYBE to my knee. Precious. Hopefully I'll have a little one to do this with some day.

And yes, that is yours truly in the black night get up, posing so it wouldn't be obvious Clare was taking this kids pic!

We got back in town yesterday. It was a great trip! We had so much fun and had lots of laughs. I hope your Christmas was just as delightful!

I watched the Clark boys for the chunk of my day today. At about 3:30 I looked at them both and said "Alright boys! Lets get out of this house!" Off to Sonic Happy hour we went.

If you have ever driven kids around you know, yes I am admitting to this,.. you kind of have to multitask. Drive and attend to needs all at once. So in the midst of doing this today, and getting drinks from the carhop, Cooper drops something as the lady is standing at my window with drinks in hand. I say "Hold on 2 seconds Coop, I have to get your slushy.".. I then hear from the back seat "ONE--- TWO-- K, I'm done holding, now can you pick that up?"

Ha! I mean.. really?? I love that kid. I just had to laugh and make that poor lady wait. And yes, he is three.

Towards the end of January- beginning of February a good friend introduced me to this song. He burned it on a CD (Ha, yes, I know.. who does that anymore) along with several other "cling to/pick me up" songs. I am notorious for not get sick of songs. I listen to them over and over again. This particular song has been on repeat and blasting in my car throughout the majority of this year. It probably holds the prize for the one song I have listened to the most in my life. I turn to it on a horrible terrible no good day and also on those days that I can't seem to get a smile off my face. Its one of the many things that has helped assure that everything is going to be OK.

My original thoughts for tonight's post went out the window. Just can't do it tonight. So here is a fun fact about Yours Truly..

For those of you that have been in a car with me, been around me and cars, really anything that has to do with cars, you have probably caught onto something. Something VERY odd. Something very rare. Something that is pretty funny to even admit to.

I have a serious obsession with car tags.

I know you are laughing! But believe it! I usually ALWAYS say something about it when around a car, or notice something about a person's tags. I catch myself looking at literally every car that I am behind or walk past. I know when my closest friends and families all expire. I'm not kidding. If there was a job for someone that notices expired tags, I would be rollin in the BIG BUCKS! I promise.

I hope you are laughing. It is an issue I have tried to control, but I simply can't help it. Literally, is an obsession. Embarrassing, rather to admit.

And with it being December 1st and the new year just around the corner, I can't help but think of the current orange 2010 tags starting to be replaced. AND I WONDER WHAT COLOR THEY WILL BE!!! The last week in December becomes a very exciting time! Usually those OCD/over achiever people usually surprise me with a sneak peek!

A Saturday with the BFF and Thankfulness

Saturdays with the best friend might just be one of the greatest things two can do. Kirsten and I met up about 11 yesterday and tried out the new cupcake place on the square. Our expectations of this place were different than it actually was. I think we had in mind cupcakes galore, any and every kind of cupcake combination. Nope. There were about 7 to choose from. Still great though. And their size was a little smaller than other cupcake places we have been to. Don't get me wrong they were still very yummy. And gourmet also. Second on the list was to go to all these little stores that we have been hearing so much about, but have both been a little too busy to visit. Of course our adventures made their way to our favorite antique shops and we found some new ones too! A love for vintage jewelry was found yesterday. You should see all these fabulous finds we found. We got all kinds of neat things and did not pay over $10 for anything! A new obsession for sure.

In addition to all this, Kirsten has been eyeing the side of this liquor store for quite some time now. It has a great saying, "Some things never change, And shouldn't.." painted on the side of it. So she pulled over and we took a few snapshots in front of it. It was a great day yesterday, so why not?

We finished the day off with a fiesta party at my parents house to watch the Hogs play LSU. Poor little piggies.

Yesterday was a great day! I'm so excited about my vintage finds!

Lastly, I don't even know where to begin with my Thankful list. I have attempted it a few times and deleted it. Because honestly, I truly don't know where to start. This year has over flowed with life changing events and in return has totally been conquered with blessing and happiness. I know without a doubt I am thankful for safety through the fire, for a wonderful and close family, for friends and a support group I couldn't go without, for God's grace and the power of prayer, and for the realization that life's "traumatic times" are unexpectedly followed by the most wonderful and unimaginable situations. I am thankful that with time the "traumatic times" eventually end up on the Thankful list.

A promised White Christmas

One month from today my bags will be packed and the family and I will be on our way to Telluride CO. Being away from Fayetteville on Christmas is something I have done one time in my life. Have lived in the same town for 23 years now, you grow quite custom to holiday traditions especially when your extended family is as small as mine is. I have attended 22 candle light Christmas Eve services and it is the one thing that really puts me in the spirit of the next 24 hours to follow. But this year will be a little different. Different is good, right?

This year our typical Christmas traditions will be put on hold while we venture off to Telluride with my Mom's extended family. My second oldest cousin got married in April, so it will be fun to go on family vacation with a new family member. Clare moved to Dallas to go to grad school and I feel like I haven't seen her in 3000 days! My oldest cousin just moved back to Little Rock, so we need to celebrate his new change. And the most important reason of all, my Dad and two sisters haven't been on the ski slopes in almost 2 years. If you only knew the last experience with the 3 of them, you would understand that our whole family is in much need of the stomach aching, tears rolling down your face, can't breathe kind of laugh!!

Christmas in Telluride will be a blessing. Our family is beyond excited to spend a week together, under the same roof, laughing until we cry, having a promised white Christmas, and being together around the most special time of the year.

I personally can't believe 2009 is almost over and Christmas is just peeking around the corner. But THANK GOODNESS 2010 is right behind it!!!

With Jack Frost in the area lately I can't help but think of the Christmas season. Which brings up my point.

A pet peeve of mine, for as long as I can remember, is when people go to label decoration boxes, make lists, title items, text message, write a note.. do anything and everything that might relate to writing the word "Christmas" and instead write "XMas." I realize that C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S is 9 letters long. Some surfaces just don't have room for all those letters. Some people are just lazy to write all 9 letters. So on, and so forth.. Whatever the case may be, I just find it disrespectful. What is XMas anyway? The only thing I understand about this is the last 3 letters.. and why an X? Why not a "c" at least? Maybe I am just uneducated about this shortening because I dislike it and have never used it.

I don't know. Maybe that is just my OCDness being out of control. But really??? If a surface is too small why not write "Dec25" or "D25" or color it red and green? Better yet, buy those crates that are already red and green? I don't know. I personally think there is a way around it.

Oh Jack Frost, you gave us cold weather and brought out a random thought. How I do love this time of year though!!!

1. I did not realize I was making a shout out. I thought I was telling a story.

2. She is correct. Blake did sit with us during the Razorback game on Saturday. Right next to me in fact. How I forgot to include her? I have no idea!! I think it is safe to say Kirsten,Luke and I had a great time with Blaker P there!!!

3. Blake, I am truly sorry for the hurt feelings. I do sense your humor in the "Rude!" comment and can just hear you saying it, and it makes me laugh. It will never happen again. Please forgive me.

4. Because of my "rudeness" this is the least I can do..

When you least expect them

Where to begin? The last I posted something on here I had no idea what was about to happen in my life. The blessings that would continue to overflow. Let's just say this, the saying we have all heard "Things happen when you least expect them" should be the title for Thursday. My family and I went to dinner for Alex's 18th birthday and afterwards I met Rachel at Theos. Because of my 1 hour of sleep the night before I was planning on saying hello and vetoing it out of there to my bed. But ya know, God's surprises us at times like this. Things happen when you least expect them. I can't quit smiling.

Friday wasn't anything to brag about. I subbed. Great day it was though.

Saturday was the last Razorback home game. Because of this being the third game in Fayetteville in a row, my Hog spirit has kind of dwindled. Yes, I said it. Kirsten and I have been talking all season about going to a game together. So why not the last one? (Of which, we showed up in the same vintage Hog tee and similar articles to go along with it. Ha, surprised? Not us.) We were accompanied by her sweet boyfriend Luke. So fun! After the game Kirsten and I had a little date out while Luke met up with the guys. Whole and behold. More blessings. More wonderful things. More smiles.

Sunday was my day to recover. To spend the day doing just as it is meant to be. N-O-T-H-I-N-G! Not to mention my week ahead of me.

As of yesterday I have become a Mom for 3 days. The parents of the family of 4 decided to make a made dash for St. Louis and called yours truly into run the fort. Not a problem. We got this. Staying over night with them is something I have certainly done before. But not since they have upgraded to attending 3 different schools and now take showers and baths in the morning. Makes for one early morning when you have 4 lunches to pack, 5 beds to make (including my own), breakfast on the table, Monday folders signed and tucked away, uniforms for after school cleaned and ready, 4 dressed for this winter weather, and out the door and off to 3 different schools all before 8:10. But we did it. Not to mention managing the crazy hair with the flips because the boys would rather not brush their hair exiting the shower. They'll thank me one day.

And hey, next time you talk to your Mom. Tell her Thanks, you really have no idea what she has done/does for you!!

And yes.. You fancy pants bloggers out there, I have now, four months later, learned how to link blogs together. I know you are proud.

Pedicure by a 4 YR old

Of all the things I love in life, spending time with 6 particular little kids ranks very high on my list. Unfortunately for the parents, these kids can do just about anything (yes, within limits. But you'll see) and get away with it in my book. I clam them as my own. Love them to the stars and back. And can't get enough of their sweet little smiles and telling the funny things they do. They are beyond perfect in my eyes and I'm truly thankful to help raise each one of them. They are cousins, 4 in one immediate family and 2 in the other, and living about 100 yards from each other. They are my life. I'm totally in love.

For example, this is Libby giving me a pedicure this past August. Not too long after I went and got a "real" one, but she waned to. So what the heck, what's it going to hurt, right???

Getting a little more serious about it..

Notice in the picture above, the paint on the driveway. Ooops, we spilt it, but she insisted on finishing the last few toes before she cleaned it up. Solution: Bath and Body Works hand soup, a toothbrush, and water in a cup.

and LOTS of scrubbing..

And yes, my toes were NEON pink for quite awhile. And we have started something ever since. Lucky for me, my toes are usually always painted. Gotta look on the bright side!

You make me sweat. You bring my self esteem down. I run six miles several times a week and after doing stage 1, I suddenly feel out of shape. Muscles I didn't even know existed are beyond sore. Monday's Mush-pot

I feel like here lately I have done nothing but ramble on this thing. So I come to you tonight continuing with the pattern.

This weekend was yet again, wonderful. Friday night Rachel and I had a lovely dinner for 2 at Bordinos and then went went to meet up with a few special someone's. Saturday sweet Rachel had an extra ticket and I joined her for the Razorback festivities. Come to think of it, I do believe this is the first time in almost 4 football seasons I haven't used my parents tickets. Oh Kenlie, just steppin out! Post game we hung out with Rachel's older brother and several of his friends. Now that was a funny time! Later that evening we met up at Powerhouse with some very special college friends of mine.

See what I mean? What more if there to be thankful for? Great friends all weekend long. What more could a girl ask for? Exactly. Nothing.

Today I had to laugh at my precious little bestie and I. So I pull up to Target (love that place, could walk the isles for hours upon end) and I noticed a pretty familiar car.. oh wait.. who is that being a good citizen and putting her cart where it belongs... oh.. yep!.. there she is, dear ol Kirsten in the flesh. Never fails for the two of us to be in the same place. Had no idea she was there. So of course we did our usual chit-chat, which lead to her question of "so what ya doin here?" I laughed and told her I came seeking the Jillian Michaels "Shred" DVD.. she took a few steps back and threw her head back and said "No way, that is exactly why I came here!" I wasn't shocked. Of course we came to Target the same day, for the same item, and without any previous conversation. Not surprised a bit.

I'll keep ya posted on this progress. I love me some good running, but lets be honest. I have to be outside and be making moving progress in order to get a good run in. Getting this kid to the gym is like pulling teeth. Its just depressing there. So with the unfortunate cold weather approaching it is time to start looking for back up plans. I mean, I am willing to freeze a few days.. ok, maybe one day a week in the negative degree weather, but not everyday. Back up suggestions I am seeking if you have any ideas.

Back to Target. So incase anyone was concerned. Target is now ready to help you decorate your home for Christmas. One would think it is next week by the looks of that place. But I'm not complaining. Reason being? I'm not much of a candy fan. I really can do without. But not when two seasons come around. Christmas and Easter. Why you ask? "Cadberry solid milk chocolates with a crisp sugar shell" assorted in red, green and white balls for Christmas and egg shaped pastel colors for Easter. I could eat the whole bag. No joke. Total weakness. Total love. Make my mouth water. THEY ARE THERE!!!! I about did a back flip when I saw them. Stalked up. Don't fret.

Got a busy week approaching, and I'm excited! This Wednesday is Wine Night. So fun. Little Alex (ok, she's 18) her birthday is Saturday and we are going to eat dinner on Thursday. And this weekend sounds like yet again another great one! And yes, don't worry I will be working too. Oh the joys of being an adult.

Ever have those mornings when you wake up for no reason? Going back to sleep is nearly impossible. Wide awake. Ready to take on the world. Yep-- that was this girl this morning. 5:19AM. I mean.. really?? Grabbed my book thinking that might work. Nope just made me more into it. More awake. Frustrated at about 7 I got up and put my tennis shoes on. Forget it! Off to run I went.

Funny story, about mile 6 a lady pasted me and her words to me were, "Honey, your face is red!" I answered with a "Yes ma'am!!" and went on my way. I mean.. really??

My dear little cousin has been wanting a Mr. Pig, so what did I do today? Painted the child one! OUTSIDE! Who ever thought I could go outside with a canvas, paint, brushes, sunglasses, tank top, and shorts IN NOVEMBER!! I mean.. really?? I got a tan in November from the sun? Yes sir!! 2 weeks ago I thought I was going to be living in my snow suit from then on out. That's Arkansas weather for ya!

Rachel texted me while she was at school today and we agreed that today would be the perfect day to go walk up by the cross to enjoy the fall on such a gorgeous day. 3 miles later, lots of laughs, and good heart to hearts. I think my exercise for the day is complete! 9 miles later. I mean.. really??

Today marked day 5 of wonderful things. Life doesn't have one complaint! And things continue to surprise me and make me smile.

Certainly excited about this week and it makes it even better that it isn't suppose to rain!!!

This kid woke up at 5:19 this morning and was fairly active. Time to count sheep!

Dear 2010,

I can't wait for you to get here!! I can't believe you are only 2 months away. 2009 was a rough one, and by that, I mean TERRIBLE! Needless to say, I'm glad to see it come and go. I was just thinking about this weekend and I thought you might like to know what was so great. Figure you could brainstorm over these next TWO months.

1. I got a very special phone call. Followed by several texts throughout the weekend.

2. I got to spend a lot of time with friends and family.

3. The HOGS won!!

4. Saturday I had the greatest night. Still smiling ear to ear. And no, it wasn't because I was dressed up for Halloween and running around crazy.

5. The weather Saturday and today was absolutely gorgeous!

6. Plans of going to Telluride CO for Christmas for a week or two is in the works!!!

7. I ran my miles very successfully.

8. I caught up with friends I haven't seen in a good while. Love when that happens!

9. We got to set our clocks back a whole hour.

10. Today was another successful day of playing with the Clark boys and getting caught up on my reading.

Just trying to help you out. I don't expect life changing events, 2009 already took care of that for you. That is.. unless, they are just wonderful! But these simple things sure do make me a happy girl! I just thought I would write you a simple note, because this weekend got me excited! I'm sensing you have great plans over your 365 days. Can't wait to see you!
